In an effort to increase sustainability and curb climate change, Kia has proudly announced its plan to become carbon neutral by 2045 through a number of environmentally-focused efforts.They’ve established three specific categories in which they’d like to create sustainable change — mobility, energy, and planetary. Sustainable Mobility

In order to make mobility more sustainable, Kia plans to have 11 EVs on the market by 2026. Their product lineup is projected to be fully electric by 2035 in Europe and by 2040 in other major markets. Additionally, a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle lineup will be introduced in 2028.

Sustainable Energy

Kia is utilizing renewable energy to help achieve their goal of an all-electric future. Their objective includes all overseas sites to be powered by 100 percent RE by 2030 and all domestic sites in Korea by 2040. Additionally, Kia plans for all business site vehicles to be EVs by 2030.

Kia is also working to achieve sustainability with parts and steel partners by establishing a greenhouse gas emission data management system and “green steel” production.

Sustainable Planet

A key sustainability initiative calls for 20 percent of all Kia vehicle plastic parts to be made from recycled plastic by 2030. Additionally, Kia has organized a partnership with The Ocean Cleanup to find more sustainable mobility solutions through technology development.

With the establishment of multiple Blue Carbon programs and external partnerships, Kia has also begun efforts to restore various ecological landmarks that have been affected by harmful emissions, including the tidal mudflats in Korea.
